North West Ambulance Services – Head Quarters Broughton – Extension (2017)

An involved project on a busy site which provides telephone assistance, fleet support, and estates management for the North West Ambulance Service.

Works involved minor demolition of redundant work areas, relocation of an existing demountable building, alterations to utilities, the strip and recladding of the existing workshop building and internal alterations to form new staff areas.

A single storey extension was constructed with piled foundations and suspended beam and block floor, cavity masonry construction and steel cladding at high level and over the roof to house storage areas for parts for vehicle repairs.

A two storey extension was constructed with piled foundations, suspended concrete beam and block floor, cavity masonry with cladding and steel cladded truss roof. This building was constructed for client’s staff involved in Estates Management, Workshop Management, and other services. A single storey reception was built for public access to office areas.

As part of the whole scheme Electrical lighting, power, and fire detection systems were upgraded to meet current legislation. Mechanical Services were also upgraded with improved heating, water supply, and ventilation all installed.

External areas were regraded and resurfaced to allow access to all areas which was previously made difficult due to the sloping nature of the existing site with drainage added and upgraded with connection into the existing service.

All works were carried out on this site while clients key operations continued without any disruption from the works.
